Ever since we were young we were taught that reading is a powerful thing that we must possess in order to succeed. And now in the age where we are living at, to be able to cope up with the advancement, reading, writing and good communication skills would be a great help. So what is the key to great communication and writing skills? Yep, that's reading.
Reading has been a great help ever since I started schooling. Like, whenever I don't understand some of our lessons I always consult the books for me to understand those and to gain more knowledge about that certain topic. But as our technologies advances, slowly, people from our generation doesn't read much often because they are always on their phones and ipads which is saddening because it looks like that they do not value reading anymore that can help and can affect they life in much good way than the effect they can get from their gadgets without thinking how would the writers feel when their works are just taken for granted. We, must not take things for granted because we don't know how big the change it can give to us when we just know how to appreciate even just the little things.
And as English Department celebrates their annual event which is anchored with the theme 'Pagbasa: Susi sa Magandang Kinabukasan' I hope that everyone of us realizes how important it is for us to learn how to read because with reading, we learn and when we learn we are one step closer in reaching our goals.
